Out My Back Door

Early in the Sketch

Out My Back Door (5 x 7 inches; oil)

I went out yesterday evening to do a quick oil sketch of a scene at my home.  I am using an old wood cigar box I converted into a pochade box last year.  The goal was to paint the scene in thirty minutes (minus time for set-up, pencil sketch, and clean up). I did not finish it in thirty, but in sixty minutes.  It was getting dark, so I added the finishing touches and signature inside.

Completed oil sketch

It was an enjoyable experience, and every painting contains a lesson.   Next time, start earlier so you can finish before sunset!!
